Computer Science

The Academy is proud to maintain state-of-the-art computer hardware and software.

Computer Science Lab
The lab functions as part of the French curriculum and is equipped with 30 PC computers with flat screens and high-speed internet access.

Students receive Computer Science instruction in French once per week. They study how to use the Internet, Power Point, Word Processing, Desk Top Publishing, Spread Sheets, Data Bases and some elements of basic Web Design.

Classrooms
Each classroom and most tutorial rooms are equipped with at least one computer and high speed internet. The class computer is generally used for computer-aided instruction. Classes are also equipped with ceiling mounted projectors to facilitate the use of media.

The latest venture of the Academy is the purchase of SMART Boards, which are on the cutting edge of technology. Teachers are introducing this medium into their instruction to remain as current as possible with the children’s world of electronics and gadgets. More than half the classrooms have Smartboards.

Teachers are encouraged to provide their class with a web-page reflecting both their formal and informal activities.

In addition, Grades Four, Five and Six have access to a mobile cart of lap top computers that roll into class for computer-aided instruction and easy wireless internet access by all students.

Library
The library is equipped with a set of computers for research and reference to enable students to do their projects and research.
